Topeka Man Driving in Excess of 80 mph in City Limits Arrested on Multiple Charges
This morning, at approximately 5 a.m., Shawnee County Sheriff’s Deputies were involved in a short car chase that led to the arrest of Jeremiah Martin, 29, Topeka.
Martin was driving a green Chevrolet caprice station wagon eastbound on I-70 near milepost 363 when a Deputy attempted to stop him for speeding. Martin led Deputies on a short chase from the area of SE 21st & Adams to Se 24th & Kentucky. Martin was believed to be traveling at speeds near 80 mph.
Martin stopped the car in the west alley of SE 24th & Kentucky and ran on foot. A Topeka Police Officer and a TPD K-9 tracked Martin to a residence in the 2300 block of SE Virginia where he was taken into custody behind a residence. A male passenger surrendered at the scene of the stop and was not arrested.
There were no injuries reported as a result this incident.
Deputies transported Martin to the Shawnee County Jail where he was booked in on the following charges:
- Felony Fleeing & Eluding
- Felony Obstruction
- Reckless driving
- Habitual Violator
- No proof of liability Insurance
- Several other traffic offenses
