Three-vehicle Accident Injures All Drivers, Two Transported to Local Hospital
On March 7, 2010, at approximately 9 p.m. the Shawnee County Sheriff’s Office responded to the report of a multi-vehicle, head-on, rollover accident in the eastbound lanes of Hwy 24 & Calhoun Bluff. The driver of one of the involved vehicles began traveling westbound in the eastbound lanes just before the accident occurred. This vehicle collided with an eastbound vehicle head on, overturning, then striking another eastbound vehicle. This vehicle came to rest on its top in the eastbound lanes of NE Hwy 24 just west of NE Calhoun Bluff. The driver of the westbound vehicle in the eastbound lanes and one of the two eastbound drivers were transported to an area hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries. The third driver involved was treated at the scene and released. Seatbelts appeared to have minimized the severity of injuries with this accident. The accident is still under investigation.
