Injury Accident 61st and Auburn Rd
On 11/12/2018 at 1824 hours the Shawnee County Emergency Communications Center received a report of a two vehicle, injury accident at SW 61st Street and Auburn Rd.
Once deputies were on scene it was discovered that a white 2001 Subaru Forester (two occupants) was westbound on 61st Street and stopped at the stop sign before turning to go south on Auburn Rd. A gray 2005 Chrysler Town and Country (three occupants) that was southbound on Auburn Rd collided with the Forester in the intersection. Both vehicles came to rest off the roadway to the southwest.
The Forester was driven by Heather Yates (44yoa from Silver Lake) and the Town and Country was driven by Cheryl Franklin (51yoa from Auburn). All occupants were wearing seatbelts at the time of the collision. Four of the five involved parties were transported to a local hospital for non-life threatening injuries.
The driver of the Forester was cited for failing to yield the right-of-way at a stop sign. There were no signs of impairment from either driver.
The Auburn Fire Department, Mission Township Fire Department, and AMR assisted on scene.
