On 04-22-2019 the Shawnee County Sheriff’s Office was called to a wooded area north of the Kansas Department of Wildlife, Parks and Tourism regional office at 300 SW Wanamaker Rd. A citizen claimed to have found skeletal remains in the dense woods. The Sheriff’s Office responded and with the assistance of the Shawnee County Coroner’s Office, located and removed the skeletal remains in question. Due to darkness and heavy vegetation the search was postponed until daylight.

The property and immediate area in question is private property and access is being denied. Further information will be released as more details are discovered in the upcoming days. It is important for a thorough search of the area to be completed and it is unknown how long that will take.

On April 22nd, 2019 at 2026 hours the Shawnee County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call reporting an injury accident in the 10100 blk of SW Topeka Blvd. Upon the deputies arrival they located a black 2005 Lincoln 4dr in the west ditch from an apparent rollover.

Several civilians stopped to assist the occupants of the vehicle when the driver fled the scene. The driver was identified as 25 year old Jacob Donley of Carbondale, KS. and the passenger was identified as 29 year old Trevor Donley also of Carbondale, KS.

It appears the vehicle was northbound on SW Topeka Blvd. when it veered off onto the east shoulder where the driver over corrected the vehicle causing it to enter the west ditch where the vehicle rolled multiple times ending in a field located to the west of SW Topeka Blvd. Both subjects were wearing their seatbelts at the time of the accident.

The passenger was transported to Stormont Vail by AMR with minor injuries.

Good Samaritans, Shawnee Heights Fire Department and AMR assisted at the scene.

This accident is still under investigation.
