UPDATE: The name of the driver involved in the accident in the 10000 block of NW 24 HWY is Kendal D Baker, 19 years old, from Wichita. On 05-08-2019 at 0022hrs the Shawnee County Emergency Communications Center received a phone call from a Silver Lake resident stating that someone was outside their door asking to call 911 due to them being involved in an accident.

When Officers arrived to the area they located a male subject in the parking lot of Wehners Thiftway. This officer was advised that the accident happened across the street in the Moore Tire Center (10019 NW US 24Hwy) parking lot.

It was found that the male subject was able to self extricate himself from his wrecked vehicle. After being seen by first responders at the scene he transported to a local hospital by American Medical Response (AMR) for non life threatening injuries that he sustained from the accident.

It appears that the white Ford Focus was westbound on NW US 24 HWY traveling into the city of Silverlake. At NW US 24 Hwy and Center St. the road starts to curve to the north. It appears that the driver did not judge the curve correctly causing the vehicle to veer off of the roadway and onto the property of Moore Tire Center and Silver Lake Auto LLC in the 10000 Blk NW US 24 Hwy. When the vehicle entered this property it stuck 5 parked vehicles in the parking lot causing significant damage to 4 of the 5 vehicle that it struck. The white Focus flipped over the vehicles that it struck and landed on its side in the parking lot of these businesses.

This accident is still under investigation by the Silver Lake Police Department and the Shawnee County Sheriff’s Office. If anyone witnessed this accident we ask that you contact either the Silver Lake Police Department or the Shawnee County Sheriff’s Office with any Information that you can provide.
